The carp supplied by Heather Fisheries are the Fishers Pond strain supplied by John Paton of Fishers Pond Fishery.

Carp will grow to sizes dependant on the type of water they are stocked into. Size, water quality, density of fish and available food are all variables that can influence a fisheries potential to produce large fish. The Fisher Pond strain of carp have achieved average growth rates of 7lb per year in some stocked southern waters however the cooler climate further north means that the growth rate slows to an average of 2lb a year.
